What is the UWPIAA?
The Up With People International Alumni Association (UWPIAA) keeps Up With People alumni around the world connected. This volunteer organization is an independent body with its own mandate. Its goals include:
- Serving alumni worldwide with quality programs and services;
- Creating a personal and professional network among Up With People alumni;
- Supporting and strengthening the goals of Up With People.
The UWPIAA began in 1987 when a group of alumni, led by Duffy Bledsoe (68A) and John Parker (1965), created a volunteer organization that would promote, encourage and plan alumni communication, networking, programs and recognition.
Since then, several hundred alumni have donated their time and talents to serve on and support the international Board of Governors (BOG), the volunteer body that spearheads efforts on behalf of the alumni of UWP.
Who is an alumnus/alumna?
An alumnus/alumna is anyone who was accepted into the Up With People program and who completed staging or who has traveled as a cast or staff member of Up With People. Also considered alumni are those who were in any national traveling cast of Sing Out, or who were on the staff of PACE magazine.
